The summit features a small stone cairn and breathtaking views in all directions, making it a perfect spot for a well-deserved breather and some photos.
Sgurr Sgiath Airigh is primarily composed of granite gneiss, offering a unique insight into the geological history of the area, with its age dating back to the Lewisian complex.
From the summit, you can see the stunning Loch Shiel and distant peaks of the Knoydart range, with even the Isle of Skye on clearer days. Not to mention, the local sheep providing their own brand of entertainment.
The name Sgurr Sgiath Airigh translates loosely as 'the peak of the shelter', probably referring to the natural windbreaks found in the area.
While lacking in historical monuments, the surrounding area is rich in folklore and the history of the local clans who once roamed here.
A popular ascent starting from the small parking area at the foot of the hill, following the well-defined footpath along the ridge.
There is a small layby on the A861, approximately 2 km from the start of the hike, providing basic parking.

In Strontian, there are a couple of cafes and a locally run shop. However, make sure to pack your own lunch as options on the hill are limited to... nature.
