Who runs these walks?

Not every listing is a club you join. Walkmates labels each organiser so you can tell a volunteer-led group from a paid guided walk. Always check the organiser's own page for prices, booking and membership.

Local walking groups
Member-run clubs and groups. Walks are usually led by volunteers, and regular walkers are often asked to join or pay a small subscription.
Commercial organisers
Guiding businesses, walking-tour companies and adventure providers. Expect to book and pay per walk or experience.
Conservation charities
Wildlife trusts and countryside charities running guided walks on their reserves. Some are free; many ask for booking or a donation.
Ranger services
National park authorities and ranger services leading walks in the landscapes they look after.
Heritage organisations
Museums, historic estates, heritage trusts and volunteer city guides offering history and heritage walks.
Community organisations
Local community, faith and climate groups that run walks alongside their other activities.
