About walking in Yorkshire and the Humber
Yorkshire has walking for every mood. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is a landscape of limestone scars, drystone walls, waterfalls and the Three Peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. The North York Moors National Park has one of the largest expanses of heather moorland in England, which turns purple in late summer.
The North Yorkshire coast is followed by the Cleveland Way, with cliffs, coves and fishing towns such as Staithes, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay. Inland, the Yorkshire Wolds, Nidderdale and the Howardian Hills are gentler, and the moors above Hebden Bridge, Haworth and Sheffield bring the Pennines within reach of the cities.

Questions about walking in Yorkshire and the Humber
Are there group walks in Yorkshire and the Humber?
Yes. Walkmates currently lists 39 upcoming dated walks in Yorkshire and the Humber. Each listing shows where to meet and how to join, and you can browse them without an account.
What are the Yorkshire Three Peaks?
Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, in the Yorkshire Dales. Walking all three in one day is a long, tough challenge of about 24 miles. Plenty of people walk them one at a time instead, which leaves time to enjoy the limestone scenery around each.
Where can I walk on the Yorkshire coast?
The Cleveland Way follows the clifftops past Staithes, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and Scarborough to Filey. Further south, Flamborough Head and the cliffs at Bempton are famous for seabirds, especially from spring to early summer.
