This classic loop begins at Carrick Little car park and follows a well-trodden path through the Mourne Wall. Head uphill towards the southern slopes of Slieve Binnian, enjoying panoramic views of the Silent Valley Reservoir. The route takes you over the summit of Binnian with its iconic tors before descending via the north side of the mountain and looping back to Carrick Little.
Starting at Carrick Little car park, this longer and more challenging route takes in both Slieve Binnian and Slieve Lamagan. Ascend Slieve Binnian with its stunning tors and sweeping views, then descend southward to the saddle between Binnian and Lamagan before tackling the steep climb to Slieve Lamagan. Descend Lamagan’s rugged slopes and return via Annalong Valley.
For a straightforward route, start at Carrick Little car park and follow the Annalong Valley path before ascending directly up Slieve Binnian. This out-and-back route focuses on reaching the summit and enjoying its granite tors without the complexities of a loop. Ideal for those seeking a shorter and more direct adventure.
This linear route begins at Carrick Little car park and ascends Slieve Binnian, following the ridge northwards to Moolieve and Wee Binnian. Descend towards the Silent Valley Reservoir, where a pre-arranged pickup can be made. The route offers diverse scenery, from dramatic tors to tranquil reservoir views.
This route combines Slieve Binnian with the nearby Rocky Mountain. Starting at Carrick Little car park, ascend Binnian first and enjoy its dramatic tors and wide-ranging views. Descend to the col with Rocky Mountain and tackle its relatively gentle slopes before descending back into the Annalong Valley and returning to the start point.
There is a designated car park at J332243, which accommodates several vehicles. Arrive early on weekends, as it can fill up quickly!
