The summit boasts a weathered granite cairn with panoramic views across the moors, perfect for a photo op – just watch the wind doesn't take your hat!
The hill is primarily composed of granite and gabbro rock, typical of the Dartmoor area, exhibiting fascinating rock formations and boulder fields. This geological setting results from volcanic activity millions of years ago.
From the summit, you can see across to the rugged contours of the Dartmoor landscape, including the iconic Sharp Tor and the River Dart winding through the valley.
The name 'Walreddon' stems from 'Weald' meaning wooded valley and 'dun' meaning hill; a fitting title for such a scenic spot.
