Staddon Heights is primarily composed of limestone, which is known for its rich fossil deposits and interesting karst formations. The cliffs and rocky outcrops reveal a geological history that is over 200 million years old.
From the summit, you can see the iconic Eddystone Lighthouse to the south and the bustling city of Plymouth to the north.
The name 'Staddon' is derived from the Old English word 'staed', meaning 'place', and 'dun', meaning 'hill'.
Historically, Staddon Heights has served as a lookout point, especially during the Second World War for coastal defences.
