At the summit, you will find a well-maintained stone cairn and a trig point, perfect for that Instagram snap. The summit area also has heather and grassland, providing a lovely backdrop for a picnic.
Sale Fell is primarily composed of volcanic rock, particularly andesite, that dates back to the early Tertiary period. The rugged terrain and unique geological features make it a great spot for both geology enthusiasts and curious hikers.
From the summit, hikers can enjoy panoramic views of the North Western Fells, Bassenthwaite Lake, and even glimpses of Skiddaw and the Solway Firth on a clear day.
