The summit features a modest cairn, which, depending on the wind, may or may not be very good at holding onto your walking hat!
Carnedd y Cribau is primarily composed of sedimentary rocks, including mudstone and sandstone, typical of the Snowdonia area. The mountain's slightly craggy slopes betray a history of glacial activity, leaving behind picturesque valleys and striking outcrops.
From the summit, you can see the impressive peaks of the Carneddau range, as well as the distant coastline of North Wales. On a clear day, the Isle of Anglesey can be glimpsed in the distance!
The name 'Carnedd y Cribau' can be translated as 'Cairn of the Crags', aptly describing its rocky features.

Parking available at Ogwen Cottage and Idwal Cottage. Both locations provide ample space, but get there early in peak season or you might find yourself parking on the verge – not the most welcoming of ambiences!
Shuttle bus services operate in the busy months from nearby towns to the main trailheads. You can also catch a local bus if you're feeling adventurous.
There are toilets at Ogwen Cottage, but no cafes nearby. Carrying snacks is highly recommended — unless you're on a diet, in which case, good luck with that.
