About this walk

Ashton Court Circular with Quarry is a varied and easy-going loop through one of Bristol’s best-known green spaces, mixing open parkland, woodland paths and a short detour past the old quarry.

Starting within Ashton Court Estate, the route winds through gently rolling grassland where deer are often visible, before dropping into sections of woodland that feel surprisingly secluded given how close you are to the city. The quarry section adds a bit of texture to the walk, with exposed rock faces and a change in atmosphere that breaks up the softer parkland scenery.

Underfoot is mostly good paths and tracks, making this a solid year-round option, though some sections can be muddy after prolonged rain. There’s very little elevation gain, so it suits a wide range of fitness levels and works well as a relaxed stroll, a dog walk, or an easy social walk with plenty of room to chat.

This is a walk about contrast rather than drama: open views across the estate, shaded woodland, and a small slice of industrial history tucked neatly into the loop. Ideal when you want greenery, variety, and a proper walk without committing to a full day out.

What does the organiser do?

Each walker is responsible for their own safety and navigation. Check the route, weather, equipment and whether the walk suits your experience and fitness.
