A large cairn marks the summit, alongside a small wooden post that you'll be tempted to climb for that perfect selfie.
The Nab is predominantly composed of sandstone from the Carboniferous period, which lends to its rugged appearance. You might also spot some shale and limestone outcrops along the way.
From the summit, you can spot the stunning scenery of the North Pennines, with sights of Weardale and the distant North Yorkshire Moors.
The name 'Nab' is derived from Old Norse, meaning 'top' or 'peak', which aptly describes its position in the landscape.
