The summit is marked by a rocky outcrop with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the iconic needle-like summit called 'The Old Man of Storr' and the dramatic cliffs of the Trotternish Peninsula.
The Quiraing is famous for its unique landslip features, formed from a mixture of sandstone and basalt. The dramatic scenery is characterised by steep cliffs, pinnacles, and plateaus, all shaped by ancient volcanic activity.

This popular circular route begins at the car park on the minor road between Staffin and Uig. The trail ascends along a clear path through dramatic rock formations, including the 'Needle,' 'Table,' and 'Prison.' It then climbs to the Quiraing Centre Peak, offering stunning views of the Trotternish Ridge and the sea before descending back to the starting point.
Starting from the Quiraing car park, this out-and-back route focuses on reaching the Centre Peak directly. The trail follows a steep but well-defined path past the iconic rock features, offering breathtaking panoramas as you ascend. After summiting, retrace your steps to the car park.
This slightly more challenging route starts at the Quiraing car park and traverses the Trotternish Ridge, passing over the Centre Peak before continuing towards Bioda Buidhe. The route is best suited for experienced walkers comfortable with some scrambling and navigation. Return via the same path or a lower-level trail.
Starting from Staffin Bay, this route ascends through grassy slopes and a faint path to the Quiraing Centre Peak. It offers a quieter approach compared to the car park start, with opportunities to spot wildlife and enjoy coastal views before joining the main Quiraing trail for the ascent.
Beginning at the Flodigarry Hotel, this linear hike follows a well-trodden path towards the Quiraing. The route threads through dramatic landscapes, passing the Centre Peak before descending to the Quiraing car park. Transportation arrangements are required for the return journey.
There is parking available at the Quiraing car park (NG442637) located along the A855 road. This serves as a popular starting point for multiple hikes in the area.
Buses to Portree are available from various locations on the Isle of Skye, and from Portree, you can hire a taxi or use local bus services to reach the car park.
There are no facilities at the summit, but Portree offers a variety of cafes and shops for pre-hike snacks and post-hike refreshments. Toilets are available at the Quiraing car park.
