The summit of Eagle Crag is marked by a large rocky outcrop providing panoramic views of the region. There is no trig point, but a small summit cairn is present.
Eagle Crag is primarily composed of volcanic rock, specifically andesite, which gives it a rugged appearance and supports various flora. The area showcases glacial erosion from the last Ice Age, resulting in stunning cliffs and craggy outcrops.
From the summit, you can enjoy sweeping views of the fells, Grasmere Lake, and surrounding valleys, including the infamous Helvellyn in the distance.
The name 'Eagle Crag' is thought to refer to the bird's-eye view from the summit, or perhaps the rare eagles that once soared above these crags.
