About this walk
Start at the public car park beside Trossachs Pier and walk past the pier facilities onto the north shore road. Keep Loch Katrine on your left as the road winds through oak woodland and around small bays. Follow the Brenachoile Trail signs, staying on the shore road where the Primrose Hill route branches uphill. At Brenachoile Point, take the short grassy path to the viewpoint, then return by the same shore route.
Allow about two and a half hours, including a stop at the point. Most of the walk uses a wide, smooth tarmac road with moderate slopes. The final viewpoint path is uneven grass with a short, fairly steep slope, so it can be slippery after rain. This is a lochside walk without a summit ascent. The road is shared with cyclists and occasional authorised vehicles; keep alert at bends and leave room for others to pass.
The shoreline gives changing views across the water towards Ben Venue and the wooded Trossachs hills. Book-shaped information panels explain the landscape's links with artists and writers, including Sir Walter Scott and The Lady of the Lake. Brenachoile Point is a natural place to pause before retracing your steps. Keep children and dogs close by the water and stay on the established path.
Trossachs Pier has toilets, a cafe, shop and cycle hire. The public car park is reached from the signed Loch Katrine turn off the A821, rather than the separate pier at Stronachlachar. Parking is charged and the operator accepts cash or card here; check the tariff and any closing signs on arrival. Bring waterproofs and check Forestry and Land Scotland notices before travelling.
Route information: Forestry and Land Scotland's Brenachoile Trail guide and route card, with visitor and parking details from Loch Katrine Cruises.

Joining a walk
A few things to know before you make plans.
Can I join if no one else is going?
You can be the first to join a scheduled walk. A suggested date is an idea for a group walk; choose Set this date up to organise it. Check the participant list and meeting details before setting off.
What if there is no date yet?
Choose Put a date on this walk to organise a group walk. Not ready to choose a day? Follow the route for scheduling updates, or save it for later.
What does the organiser do?
The organiser sets the date and meeting details and helps the group get started. They are a fellow walker and may be new to the route too.
Each walker is responsible for their own safety and navigation. Check the route, weather, equipment and whether the walk suits your experience and fitness.
Can I walk this route on my own?
Yes. Choose Walk this route on your own to open the start screen, then start when you are ready. Finish the walk to add it to your walking history. You do not need a group date.
What happens after I join?
Use the walk page to check meeting details, updates and who is going. Check in from 24 hours before the start to let the group know you still plan to come.
How do I confirm plans with the group?
Check the participant list and check-ins, and message the organiser or other walkers to confirm where to meet and who is coming. This is especially useful when the group is small.
