The summit features a prominent rocky outcrop and a small cairn, which provides a great photo opportunity for summit selfies.
Primarily composed of Skiddaw Slate, this area showcases fine examples of glacial erosion. The surrounding crags are a testament to the powerful forces of nature that shaped the landscape.
From the summit, you can catch a glimpse of distant peaks such as Scafell Pike and Great Gable, as well as the beautiful Wasdale Valley.
The name 'Buckbarrow' is thought to derive from local dialect, possibly relating to the old term for a cattle enclosure or 'barrow'.
Notably regarded by hikers for its panoramic vistas, it has become a favoured viewpoint in the Lake District.
A popular route that takes you through scenic woodlands before ascending to the summit with stunning views.
Wasdale Head car park (limited spaces), usually busy, so arrive early to secure a spot.
Limited bus service from nearby towns, but check the schedule, as it’s not the most frequent.
