The summit features a large sandstone outcrop and is marked by a prominent sandstone tor, ideal for a picnic or a selfie with a view.
Alderley Edge is primarily composed of sandstone and boasts interesting geological formations known as the 'Alderley Edge Sandstone', which forms dramatic cliffs and crags in the area.
On a clear day, you can see as far as the Pennines to the east and the rolling hills of Cheshire, including the majestic Jodrell Bank Observatory.
The name Alderley comes from 'Alder' (the tree) and 'Leah' (clearing), referring to the area’s rich flora.
