About this walk

A varied 3.3 km circuit from Kingsbury Water Park’s main visitor entrance, linking the northern shore of Bodymoor Heath Water, the River Tame path and the woodland beside the smaller northern pools. Allow about 90 minutes for a relaxed walk and wildlife stops; uninterrupted walking is around 50 minutes. This route uses the eastern part of the park and does not include the canal, Marston lanes or the full 8 km Kingsbury Circular Walk.

Start in the main paid visitor car park at Bodymoor Heath, B76 0DY, beside the visitor facilities. Take the established path east beside the miniature railway, crossing Woodcock Bridge and continuing between Willows Pool and Bodymoor Heath Water. Before the footbridge into Kingsbury village, turn north along the public riverside path. Follow the River Tame upstream to the northern footbridge and turn southwest between the Alder and Sandy pool area. Return south on the established woodland paths, then follow the park paths back to the visitor entrance. Stay east of the M42; no motorway underpass or canal crossing is needed.

The changing mix of open water, riverside vegetation and woodland makes this a good short walk for watching birds. Keep to the main paths, give anglers space and stay outside fenced club and activity areas. The miniature railway has its own crossings: use the marked pedestrian crossing points and look for trains.

Paths are mostly surfaced or compacted, with some uneven and muddy sections. Rivers and lakes have unprotected edges, so supervise children and keep dogs under close control, using leads near wildlife and other visitors. Do not enter any of the water: the operator prohibits swimming and the use of kayaks, paddleboards or dinghies. Avoid flooded paths after heavy rain and follow ranger notices.

Parking is paid by card only; the machines do not accept cash. Toilets are near the main entrance and the Old Barn Coffee Shop is by the visitor centre, subject to opening. Check the gate closing time before setting off. Planned using the Tame Valley Wetlands Kingsbury Circular Walk leaflet for the riverside section and Warwickshire Country Parks visitor guidance: https://countryparks.warwickshire.gov.uk/homepage/6/kingsbury-water-park. The woodland return makes this a shorter park circuit.
