Langdon Hill is primarily composed of Upper Chalk, characterised by its white chalk cliffs and rolling hills, a remnant of ancient seabeds from millions of years ago.

The name 'Langdon' is believed to derive from Old English, meaning 'long hill', which is fitting considering its gentle rise above the surrounding landscape.
