About this walk

This coastal circular starts at the Padstow Tourist Information Centre, right by the harbour, and quickly leaves the bustle of town behind for open cliffs and big Atlantic views. It is a rewarding loop that feels properly coastal without ever straying too far from civilisation.

From the harbour, you pick up the South West Coast Path, heading west out of Padstow. The path climbs steadily, giving you expanding views back over the Camel Estuary before the scenery turns rugged and exposed. This stretch is classic North Cornwall: high cliffs, restless sea, and a real sense of space, especially once Padstow drops out of sight.

The coastal section undulates rather than climbs aggressively, but there is enough up and down to keep your legs honest. On clear days, the views are excellent all the way along, with plenty of natural spots to stop and watch the waves or take a breather.

You eventually reach Trevone, a small village with a relaxed feel and a good place to pause. The beach is usually lively in good weather, and there are cafés nearby if you want to refuel before heading back.

The return leg heads inland, following quieter lanes and footpaths. This section is much gentler and more sheltered, giving your legs and ears a break after the exposed coast. It is an easy, steady walk back into Padstow, with the harbour appearing almost suddenly at the end.
