About this walk

A classic Jurassic Coast day out starting from Durdle Door Holiday Park and looping to Lulworth Cove.
The walk begins with a steady descent to Man O’ War beach and the famous limestone arch of Durdle Door, often busy but always spectacular. The steps down to the beaches are uneven and can be slippery, so good footwear is essential. The view from the shore is worth the effort.

After soaking in the arch from the beach, head west along the coastal path toward Bat’s Head. Just a short way along this trail the crowds fade away and you get quiet rolling cliffs, summer flowers, and plenty of insects and bees. It feels wild and peaceful compared to the main viewpoint.

From Bat’s Head, turn back and follow the wide, popular path east to Lulworth Cove. The final mile into the cove offers classic chalk cliff scenery and a look at Stair Hole with its striking rock formations. Lulworth Cove itself is lively with cafés, ice cream spots, and shops, making it a good place to pause.

Finish by retracing your steps to the car park, grabbing one last look at Durdle Door before climbing back up. It makes for a full and varied day with beaches, big views, quieter stretches, family friendly amenities, and a mix of geology and wildlife. Wear proper walking shoes and take your time.
