About this walk

A 4.8 km circular walk through Comer Woods on the Dudmaston Estate, passing Wall, Seggy and Brim pools. Allow around an hour and a half, with extra time for a stop beside the water. The woodland tracks are easy to identify, but several climbs and descents make this a moderate walk.

Start at Comer Woods car park, accessed from the A442 near Quatford, using the pedestrian exit towards Heath Meadow. Follow the orange Three Pools waymarkers through the meadow past the café and barns, then climb the track towards Five Ways. Continue south through the conifers and follow the surfaced track through the bends towards the pools. The outward leg runs above the water; at the eastern end turn downhill, then return west with Wall, Seggy and Brim pools on your left. Keep right onto the pedestrian route near Brim Pool and follow the woodland return to the car park.

Expect firm tracks, steep slopes and some uneven patches. Wet leaves, puddles and mud can affect grip. Keep back from the pool edges and follow local closures for woodland work. Some tracks are shared with cyclists and riders; use the signed walking sections and leave the dedicated mountain-bike trail to cyclists. Dogs are welcome, with on-lead zones around the visitor areas and other signs to follow.

Parking is charged for non-members. Pay or validate your membership on arrival using the cashless machine or the indicated parking app, and check the displayed closing time. The café and toilets are at Heath Meadow, on the first part of the walk; café hours are shorter than car-park hours. Carry water for the rest of the circuit.

Use Comer Woods’ own entrance. The National Trust advises that there is no safe pedestrian access between these woods and Dudmaston Hall, so do not add an improvised roadside connection along the A442.

Joining a walk

A few things to know before you make plans.

What if there is no date yet?

Choose Put a date on this walk to organise a group walk. Not ready to choose a day? Follow the route for scheduling updates, or save it for later.

What does the organiser do?

The organiser sets the date and meeting details and helps the group get started. They are a fellow walker and may be new to the route too.

Each walker is responsible for their own safety and navigation. Check the route, weather, equipment and whether the walk suits your experience and fitness.

Can I walk this route on my own?

What happens after I join?

Use the walk page to check meeting details, updates and who is going. Check in from 24 hours before the start to let the group know you still plan to come.

How do I confirm plans with the group?

Check the participant list and check-ins, and message the organiser or other walkers to confirm where to meet and who is coming. This is especially useful when the group is small.
