About this walk
An 8.1 km circuit linking Clumber Bridge, the southern lakeshore, Hardwick village and the woods north of the lake. Allow around three hours for this mostly gentle walk, with time to pause at the water and the chapel. It follows established estate paths and includes short sections beside roads.
Start in the visitor parking area near the central facilities, reached by the signed National Trust entrances from the A614 or B6034. Follow the paths through the Turning Yard towards the lake, then head southwest past the Grotto to Clumber Bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the lake-side tracks northeast, keeping the water to your left. The grassy parkland section leads back towards the surfaced lakeside trail and the Greek temple.
Continue towards the weir and Hardwick, passing the toilets and parking area. Use the roadside grass verge through the village, watching for vehicles and looking for the public bridleway sign into the woods. Follow the woodland route west, then south through Ash Tree Hill Wood. The return crosses estate roads and rejoins the paths near the visitor facilities. Finish through the Pleasure Grounds beside the lake, passing the chapel and Turning Yard before returning to the car park. Keep the saved route handy at woodland junctions.
Expect surfaced paths, grass, woodland tracks, gates and gentle slopes. Wet ground and tree roots can be slippery; wear footwear with grip and keep clear of the unguarded water edge and weir. Give cyclists room on shared paths. Cross roads carefully and keep dogs under close control, on a lead around traffic, wildlife and busy visitor areas. Follow any signs or staff instructions for temporary diversions.
Admission applies to non-members and includes parking. Toilets and refreshments are available near the main visitor facilities during their opening hours, with further toilets at Hardwick. Check the park and car park closing times before setting out and allow enough time to finish in daylight. Route information: National Trust, Clumber Park lakeside walking trail and current visitor guidance.

What if there is no date yet?
Choose Put a date on this walk to organise a group walk. Not ready to choose a day? Follow the route for scheduling updates, or save it for later.
What does the organiser do?

Each walker is responsible for their own safety and navigation. Check the route, weather, equipment and whether the walk suits your experience and fitness.
Can I walk this route on my own?
Yes. Choose Walk this route on your own to open the start screen, then start when you are ready. Finish the walk to add it to your walking history. You do not need a group date.
What happens after I join?
Use the walk page to check meeting details, updates and who is going. Check in from 24 hours before the start to let the group know you still plan to come.
How do I confirm plans with the group?
Check the participant list and check-ins, and message the organiser or other walkers to confirm where to meet and who is coming. This is especially useful when the group is small.
