The summit features a prominent cairn, along with a stunning view of the adjacent wind farm, which looks oddly like an army of wind turbines ready to march.
The hill is primarily composed of sedimentary rocks, including sandstone and shale, indicative of the area's ancient marine environment. Fossils have been discovered, suggesting a rich geological history.
From the summit, you can see the rugged landscapes of the Southern Uplands and the sprawling Whitelee Windfarm, along with a lovely view of the distant Campsie Fells.
The name 'Whitelee' is thought to derive from the Old Norse words 'hvít' (white) and 'ly' (meadow), suggesting an ancient landscape.
This area has been historically significant due to its early agricultural development and more recently, the establishment of one of the UK's largest onshore wind farms.
