Knock Hill is predominantly composed of volcanic rocks, predominantly basalt, providing a fascinating insight into Scotland's geological history. The craggy outcrops and occasional screes give it a rugged charm.
From the summit, you'll have sweeping views of the Campsie Fells, the city of Glasgow, and, on a clear day, the distant peaks of the Highlands.
The name 'Knock' derives from the Gaelic 'cnoc' which means 'hill'. Uninventive? Perhaps, but at least it tells you exactly what to expect!

This straightforward route begins at the end of a minor road leading from the village of Strathblane, tackling a gentle ascent through grassland before reaching the summit.
Starting from a small car park on the west side, this route is slightly steeper but offers a more adventurous terrain through heather and rocky sections.
There is a small parking area at the start of the East Approach near the village of Strathblane, suitable for a few cars.
Bus services are available from Glasgow to Strathblane, then it's a short walk to the trailhead.
