About this walk
Start just inside Clarence Gate on the south-west corner of Regent's Park, a short walk from Baker Street station. This circuit links the boating lake with open parkland and Broad Walk. Allow about one and a half hours with time to watch the waterbirds and stop for refreshments.
Head north beside the western shore of the boating lake towards Hanover Gate, then continue on the park paths towards the Winter Gardens. Turn east across the park on the paths near The Hub and join the Broad Walk, keeping outside the fenced London Zoo grounds. Follow the Broad Walk south to Chester Road, turn west to Inner Circle and follow its pavement round the northern and western side of Queen Mary's Gardens. Turn west onto the park path towards the boating lake, then follow the paths south and cross Clarence Bridge to return to Clarence Gate. Follow the plotted path at the lake junctions rather than crossing lawns or sports pitches.
Most of the walk is on paved or firm park paths with gentle gradients and pedestrian bridges. Watch for wet leaves, water edges and cyclists where routes are shared. The Inner Circle section follows a pavement beside a park road; cross carefully at the path connections. Cafes and public toilets are available around the lake, The Hub and Broad Walk, subject to opening hours. Bring a payment card for charged toilets. Follow local dog signs beside the water.
Plan this as a daylight walk and check current park notices and seasonal gate closing times before setting off. Public transport is convenient; drivers should use official marked Inner or Outer Circle bays, checking charges and maximum stays on the signs. Joining a walk
A few things to know before you make plans.
Can I join if no one else is going?
You can be the first to join a scheduled walk. A suggested date is an idea for a group walk; choose Set this date up to organise it. Check the participant list and meeting details before setting off.
What if there is no date yet?
Choose Put a date on this walk to organise a group walk. Not ready to choose a day? Follow the route for scheduling updates, or save it for later.
What does the organiser do?
The organiser sets the date and meeting details and helps the group get started. They are a fellow walker and may be new to the route too.
Each walker is responsible for their own safety and navigation. Check the route, weather, equipment and whether the walk suits your experience and fitness.
Can I walk this route on my own?
Yes. Choose Walk this route on your own to open the start screen, then start when you are ready. Finish the walk to add it to your walking history. You do not need a group date.
What happens after I join?
Use the walk page to check meeting details, updates and who is going. Check in from 24 hours before the start to let the group know you still plan to come.
How do I confirm plans with the group?
Check the participant list and check-ins, and message the organiser or other walkers to confirm where to meet and who is coming. This is especially useful when the group is small.
