Follow the blue Estate Walk markers anticlockwise from Spearywell car park through woodland and farmland to Mottisfont village. Take the full orchard route, then return through the Oakley area and Great Copse to Spearywell. This mapped circuit is about 9.2 km; it does not enter the paid house and gardens or include the optional Oakley Oak detour.
Allow around three and a half hours of walking, plus stops and extra time for winter ground conditions; this is an estimate.
This is not a traffic-free walk. Hatt Hill includes roughly 300m without pavement; the Mottisfont Lane bend and parts of Oakley Road and Oakley Lane also involve road walking. Near the finish, Jerram’s Hill includes about 150–170m on a fast road without pavement. Choose good visibility, take care at junctions and road crossings, and do not start in ice or poor visibility. Use the permitted pedestrian side access beside vehicle gates, following current signs rather than climbing barriers.
Woodland and field paths can be muddy, uneven or flooded. Allow enough daylight, avoid woodland in strong winds, keep dogs on leads around livestock, and follow any forestry or access closures. Turn back if conditions are unsafe.
