About this walk

Start on the pedestrian path at the northern end of Langley Park's main paid car park, beside the Tea Room. This short circuit links the Temple Gardens, the open parkland vista and the arboretum edge. Allow around an hour to an hour and a quarter, including stops to look at the gardens and trees.

Head west from the car park and turn north into the Temple Gardens. Follow the established outer paths through the rhododendrons, then turn left at the upper path junction to return towards the temple viewpoint and vista. The rhododendrons usually flower from April to June; at other times, the mature trees give the gardens their character.

Follow the public path southwest across the parkland beside Kings Wood towards the arboretum. Turn southeast along its public boundary path, passing the Destination Deadwood area, then turn north up Verney's Walk. Continue back to the Tea Room and car park. Follow the country park paths and keep out of the adjoining private grounds.

The route is largely level, with gentle garden slopes and a mix of stone tracks, earth and grass. Loose stones, roots and muddy patches need care after rain. Keep dogs on leads in the Temple Gardens and arboretum, as the park signs require.

The Tea Room and toilets are beside the start. Parking is paid and the car park closes seasonally; check the entrance board before setting off. Do not park on Billet Lane. Choose daylight and follow any signed temporary diversions.

Based on Buckinghamshire Council's short Langley Park circuit, using the public path around the arboretum edge. Full park map and visitor information checked on 3 October 2026. https://countryparks.buckinghamshire.gov.uk/langley-park/

Joining a walk

A few things to know before you make plans.

Can I join if no one else is going?

You can be the first to join a scheduled walk. A suggested date is an idea for a group walk; choose Set this date up to organise it. Check the participant list and meeting details before setting off.

What if there is no date yet?

Choose Put a date on this walk to organise a group walk. Not ready to choose a day? Follow the route for scheduling updates, or save it for later.

What does the organiser do?

The organiser sets the date and meeting details and helps the group get started. They are a fellow walker and may be new to the route too.

Each walker is responsible for their own safety and navigation. Check the route, weather, equipment and whether the walk suits your experience and fitness.

Can I walk this route on my own?

Yes. Choose Walk this route on your own to open the start screen, then start when you are ready. Finish the walk to add it to your walking history. You do not need a group date.

What happens after I join?

Use the walk page to check meeting details, updates and who is going. Check in from 24 hours before the start to let the group know you still plan to come.

How do I confirm plans with the group?

Check the participant list and check-ins, and message the organiser or other walkers to confirm where to meet and who is coming. This is especially useful when the group is small.
