About this walk
A short woodland and waterside circuit on the eastern side of Foremark Water, based on the Wren Trail. The plotted route is about 2.3 km from the main visitor-facilities car park. Allow an hour at a leisurely pace with stops by the reservoir; steady walking takes less time. This is a useful choice for a shorter outing with refreshments and toilets close to the start.
Leave the main car park towards the signed bridleway and follow it south through Scaddows Oaks woodland. At the Wren Trail junction turn towards the reservoir, then follow the established woodland path north, with views across the water between the trees. Return to the visitor facilities and the same car park. Follow the Wren Trail signs at the junctions, keeping to the eastern public paths. This walk does not circle the reservoir, enter the sailing club or continue into the longer Carver’s Rocks route.
The bridleway is broad and compacted, while the woodland return is narrower and can be uneven, with slopes and shallow steps. Wear shoes with grip, particularly after rain when leaves and tree roots can be slippery. Share the bridleway carefully with cyclists and horses. Keep away from the reservoir edge: swimming, paddling and inflatables are prohibited. Keep dogs on a lead and out of the water, with a short lead around the visitor facilities and on the bridleway.
Use Foremark’s signed vehicle entrance from the B5008 and park by the visitor facilities, DE65 6EG. Parking is charged for non-members, using the machines or JustPark location 80578. The National Trust currently says card payments are not available at the machines; check the payment signs before leaving your vehicle. Members must still check in at the machine or app for free parking. Toilets and a refreshments kiosk are by the main car park, subject to opening hours. Gate times change seasonally: check the notice and return before locking time.
Route based on Severn Trent’s Foremark Water Wren Trail map, with current facilities and parking information checked against the National Trust’s Foremark visitor guidance. Follow current signs and any local path closures.

Joining a walk
A few things to know before you make plans.
Can I join if no one else is going?
You can be the first to join a scheduled walk. A suggested date is an idea for a group walk; choose Set this date up to organise it. Check the participant list and meeting details before setting off.
What if there is no date yet?
Choose Put a date on this walk to organise a group walk. Not ready to choose a day? Follow the route for scheduling updates, or save it for later.
What does the organiser do?
The organiser sets the date and meeting details and helps the group get started. They are a fellow walker and may be new to the route too.
Each walker is responsible for their own safety and navigation. Check the route, weather, equipment and whether the walk suits your experience and fitness.
Can I walk this route on my own?
Yes. Choose Walk this route on your own to open the start screen, then start when you are ready. Finish the walk to add it to your walking history. You do not need a group date.
What happens after I join?
Use the walk page to check meeting details, updates and who is going. Check in from 24 hours before the start to let the group know you still plan to come.
How do I confirm plans with the group?
Check the participant list and check-ins, and message the organiser or other walkers to confirm where to meet and who is coming. This is especially useful when the group is small.
