About this walk
A park and woodland circuit visiting the Mi Amigo memorial at the site of a wartime B-17 crash. On 22 February 1944 the USAAF aircraft Mi Amigo crashed in Endcliffe Park, killing all ten crew members. Sheffield City Council records the event and the memorial, established in 1969. The memorial garden marks the crash site and provides a quiet place to read the names and remember the crew.
Start on the park-side footpath beside Endcliffe Park’s paid car park on Rustlings Road, near Hunter’s Bar. Follow the entrance paths into the park and head northwest along the wooded side of the grounds. Visit the Mi Amigo memorial beside the woodland path, then continue west beside Porter Brook and the ponds. Follow the upper park paths upstream towards the Nether Spurge Wheel area. Use the footbridge at the western turn and return east on the lower riverside paths, crossing the other footbridges shown on the route. Pass the café area and return through the entrance paths to the car park. The small memorial clearing is immediately beside the path; leave flowers and commemorative objects undisturbed.
Allow about 1 hour 15 minutes for the 2.5 km circuit, including time at the memorial. Most of the walk follows gentle park paths, but the wooded memorial approach includes uneven ground, roots and short slopes. Mud and wet leaves can make it slippery. Use the bridges rather than stepping stones, and stay back from the brook and pond edges, especially after heavy rain. Share paths considerately with cyclists, runners and other visitors, and keep dogs under control. The woodland section makes this particular circuit unsuitable for ordinary pushchairs and wheelchairs, even though other park paths are surfaced.
Sheffield City Council lists a charged Endcliffe Park car park; check the current tariff and signs on arrival. Hunter’s Bar has public transport connections. The park has a café, playground and open grass, but café hours vary, so bring water and do not depend on it being open. Avoid adjoining private grounds and residential drives.

Joining a walk
A few things to know before you make plans.
Can I join if no one else is going?
You can be the first to join a scheduled walk. A suggested date is an idea for a group walk; choose Set this date up to organise it. Check the participant list and meeting details before setting off.
What if there is no date yet?
Choose Put a date on this walk to organise a group walk. Not ready to choose a day? Follow the route for scheduling updates, or save it for later.
What does the organiser do?
The organiser sets the date and meeting details and helps the group get started. They are a fellow walker and may be new to the route too.
Each walker is responsible for their own safety and navigation. Check the route, weather, equipment and whether the walk suits your experience and fitness.
Can I walk this route on my own?
Yes. Choose Walk this route on your own to open the start screen, then start when you are ready. Finish the walk to add it to your walking history. You do not need a group date.
What happens after I join?
Use the walk page to check meeting details, updates and who is going. Check in from 24 hours before the start to let the group know you still plan to come.
How do I confirm plans with the group?
Check the participant list and check-ins, and message the organiser or other walkers to confirm where to meet and who is coming. This is especially useful when the group is small.
