About this walk
Start at the public Bridge Street car park beside Coldingham Priory. Walk through the Priory grounds towards Chariot Road, then turn right onto the pavement alongside St Abbs Road. At the signed Creel Path, leave the road for the old hedge-lined footpath used by fishing families between Coldingham and the coast.
Keep ahead on the main Creel Path and Creel Road into St Abbs. Turn right along Murrayfield, past the village shop, and follow the signed coastal footpath towards Coldingham Bay. This circuit uses the path above the bay and the steps down near its western end. Return by the beach access road and the pavement beside the road to Coldingham, then retrace the Priory approach to the car park.
Allow about two hours, with extra time for the Priory or a café stop. There are steady rises on the Creel Path, steps at the bay and stretches of uneven earth that can be muddy. The coastal section is exposed, so choose settled weather, keep back from edges and keep children and dogs close. Use the pavements on the road sections and take care where the beach access road has no footway. The mapped circuit stays off the tidal sands.
Coldingham has shops, pubs and community-run toilets at the car park; toilet opening follows the local shop or café hours. St Abbs and Coldingham Bay have cafés and further toilets, with seasonal opening possible. Check parking signs on arrival. Based on the council's Paths Around Eyemouth guide and current public footpath mapping, checked 3 October 2026.

Joining a walk
A few things to know before you make plans.
Can I join if no one else is going?
You can be the first to join a scheduled walk. A suggested date is an idea for a group walk; choose Set this date up to organise it. Check the participant list and meeting details before setting off.
What if there is no date yet?
Choose Put a date on this walk to organise a group walk. Not ready to choose a day? Follow the route for scheduling updates, or save it for later.
What does the organiser do?
The organiser sets the date and meeting details and helps the group get started. They are a fellow walker and may be new to the route too.
Each walker is responsible for their own safety and navigation. Check the route, weather, equipment and whether the walk suits your experience and fitness.
Can I walk this route on my own?
Yes. Choose Walk this route on your own to open the start screen, then start when you are ready. Finish the walk to add it to your walking history. You do not need a group date.
What happens after I join?
Use the walk page to check meeting details, updates and who is going. Check in from 24 hours before the start to let the group know you still plan to come.
How do I confirm plans with the group?
Check the participant list and check-ins, and message the organiser or other walkers to confirm where to meet and who is coming. This is especially useful when the group is small.
