Inchagoil is predominantly composed of sedimentary rock, specifically sandstone and siltstone, formed during the Devonian period. This area showcases classic features of glacial erosion, making the landscape both intriguing and aesthetically pleasing.
From the summit, one can see Loch Oich, the Great Glen, and a majestic sweep of the surrounding mountains including the impressive Nevis Range.
Inchagoil derives from the Scottish Gaelic 'Innis a' Ghobha', which means 'Island of the Smith', reflecting the area's historical significance in local smithing.
The region was a popular route for drovers and has a rich tapestry of history interwoven with tales of clan battles.
