How to Delete Your Walkmates Account

We're sorry to see you go — but if you'd like to delete your account, here's exactly how to do it.

💡 What happens when you delete your account?

When you delete your Walkmates account:

• Your profile and personal information are permanently deleted.
• Your photos, walk history, and messages are removed from our system.
• Public posts and walk contributions (such as Ghosts or Explorer Walks) will be anonymised but may remain visible to others.
• We retain minimal data only if required by law (e.g. for fraud prevention or legal obligations), and only for as long as necessary.

We do not retain your email, location, or usage history after deletion.

🧭 Steps to delete your Walkmates account

You can delete your account at any time, right from inside the app or website:

From the Walkmates App:

1. Open the Walkmates app.
2. Go to Settings (tap your profile icon, then the gear icon).
3. Tap Delete Account at the bottom of the screen.
4. Confirm your choice — and you're done.

From the Walkmates Website:

1. Log in at walkmates.com.
2. Click your profile picture (top right), then go to Settings.
3. Scroll to the bottom and click Delete My Account.
4. Follow the confirmation steps.

Once confirmed, your account will be scheduled for permanent deletion and removed within 24 hours.

⚠️ Need help or changed your mind?

If you need help or deleted your account by mistake, email us at [email protected].
We can recover recently deleted accounts within a short grace period, but once it's gone — it's gone.
