Standard Route via the Cobbler Path
ModerateThis popular route begins from the Succoth car park near Arrochar. Follow the well-maintained path that leads towards The Cobbler (Ben Arthur). At around 400m elevation, a clear fork in the path directs you left towards Beinn Narnain. The ascent becomes steeper and rockier as you approach the summit, with minor scrambling required near the top. Descend the same way or combine with Beinn Ime for a longer day.
Circular Route via Beinn Ime
StrenuousStarting from the same Succoth car park, this circular route first ascends Beinn Narnain and then continues onto Beinn Ime, the highest peak in the Arrochar Alps. From Beinn Narnain's summit, descend northwest towards the bealach (saddle) and begin the climb up Beinn Ime. Return via the same bealach and rejoin the Cobbler Path to descend back to the car park.
West Ridge Ascent
ChallengingThis less-trodden route starts from the same Succoth car park but takes a more direct and challenging ascent up Beinn Narnain. The path climbs steeply through forestry, eventually emerging onto the rugged west ridge. This route features some scrambling and offers excellent views of Arrochar and Loch Long. Descend via the standard Cobbler Path for a varied day out.
Alternative Approach via Coire Creagach
ModerateBegin at Inveruglas on the west side of Loch Lomond and follow the hydro track into Coire Creagach. From here, ascend steep grassy slopes to gain the summit of Beinn Narnain. This approach is quieter and offers a different perspective of the mountain. Descend via the western slopes to rejoin the Cobbler Path and return to Succoth or alternatively retrace your steps.
