At the Summit

At the summit, hikers can find a substantial cairn marking the peak, which provides a perfect photo opportunity for summit selfies!

Terrain & Geology

A mix of rocky paths and grassy slopes with some boggy sections near the tarns. Best to bring sturdy boots unless you fancy a mud bath!

Sergeant Man is primarily composed of Skiddaw Slate, with portions of Borrowdale Volcanic Group rocks. This geology hints at a dramatic ancient volcanic past, which, if the rocks could talk, would have plenty of tales about molten lava and geological upheaval!

Views & Scenery

From the summit, enjoy breathtaking views of the Langdale Pikes, Windermere, and the imposing heights of Bowfell and Crinkle Crags. On a clear day, one could even spot the Isle of Man in the distance!
