Direct Ascent from Glenbatrick Bay
HardThis route begins at Glenbatrick Bay (NR490720) on the western coast of Jura. It involves a direct ascent via the Bealach a' Bhàillidh. The climb is steep and pathless in parts, but it rewards hikers with panoramic views over Jura's wild landscape.
Circular Route via Beinn Shiantaidh
Very HardThis longer circular route starts at the Three Arched Bridge, summits Beinn Shiantaidh first, and then traverses to Beinn an Oir. The descent is via the Bealach a' Bhàillidh and back to the start point. This is a strenuous hike requiring good navigation skills.
Southern Approach via Corran River
HardThis less-travelled route begins near the Corran River (NR514707), following its course northwards. The ascent to Beinn an Oir is made via the southern slopes, which are steep and challenging but quieter than the more popular routes.
Beinn an Oir and Beinn a' Chaolais Traverse
Very HardThis traverse links Beinn an Oir with Beinn a' Chaolais, starting from the Three Arched Bridge. It is an ambitious undertaking but offers an incredible exploration of Jura's rugged terrain. Expect steep ascents, loose scree, and breathtaking vistas.
