What’s a Quickie?
Let’s face it — not every walk needs a big plan.
Sometimes you just want to get outside, clear your head, stretch your legs, and maybe leave a ghost or two behind. No invites, no schedule, no fuss.
That’s what Quickies are for.
🚶 So… what is a Quickie?
A Quickie is a fast, frictionless way to log a walk you're doing right now.
- No setup
- No planning
- No one else
- Just you, your feet, and the open path
Hit “Start a Quickie”, and you’re off.
💡 Why bother logging it?
Because Quickies:
- Count towards your Explorer streak
- Let you drop Ghosts along the way
- Show up in your profile and Campfire feed
- Help you track your walks — even the short, spontaneous ones
- Make you feel like you’re part of something, even on your own
⚙️ What happens behind the scenes?
- We instantly create a private walk instance (marked as a Quickie)
- You’re auto-checked in — no “Join” button, no RSVP
- You can leave Ghosts or notes as you go
- When you're done, just tap “Finish”
- That’s it. Walk logged. Ghosts left. Explorer progress updated.
Optionally, you can upload a photo or turn it into a proper Explorer walk later.
🧠 Wait, can other people see my Quickies?
Only if you want them to.
By default, Quickies are just for you, but if you’ve enabled sharing, your mates might see:
“Paul is having a Quickie (‽)”
Clicking the interrobang gives them this page. So, hi 👋
🏆 Do Quickies count for challenges and badges?
Yep — if it’s an Explorer Quickie (linked to a known route), we’ll credit you as normal.
If it’s a completely freeform walk, it still shows up in your profile and stats.
Either way, your effort counts.
🎒 Final thought
Walkmates is all about real walking. And real walking isn’t always a full-day epic with a trig point selfie and a pub at the end.
Sometimes it’s just 20 minutes with a podcast, or a wander to clear your head.
Quickies let you log that too.
So go on — grab your boots (or trainers), hit “Start a Quickie,” and we’ll take care of the rest.
See you out there.
